Bridges Program

Black Family Development, Inc. (BFDI) in collaboration with the Detroit Employment Solutions Corporation (DESC) is implementing an On-the-Job Training Program. The Bridges Program is designed to close both the prevalent academic and employment gap for youth 16 to 21 years of age.

Program Goal

The goals of the Bridges Program include

• To empower at-risk youth in, recently exiting, or at-risk of entering the juvenile justice system with curriculum-based employability skills training.
• To provide individualized job placement, supervised paid work experience, and job coaching for at-risk youth to successfully enter the workforce, (including implementing their own cottage industry) in 9 to 12 months.
